Most dog-care advice is written for temperate countries. It assumes a garden, a mild afternoon and a pavement you can walk on barefoot. None of those assumptions hold for four months of a Gulf summer, and increasingly they do not hold in a lot of other places either.
This site is built for the other case. It is written from Dubai, where the problem is at its sharpest, and it is written to be useful to anyone raising a dog in a hot climate.
What we cover
- Heat safety. How hot is too hot, how ground temperature differs from air temperature, why humidity changes the answer, which dogs are at higher risk, and what heatstroke looks like in its first minutes.
- Hot-climate routines. Rebuilding a dog's day around the heat: walk timing, indoor exercise, cooling equipment that works and cooling equipment that does not.
- Dubai and the UAE specifically. Local pet rules, registration, which beaches genuinely permit dogs, vets, and what daily life is actually like in a high-rise here.
How we work
Every factual claim carries its source next to it. We cite primary legislation rather than summaries of it, veterinary research rather than other blogs, and a venue's own current policy rather than a list someone else compiled.
We would rather publish less than publish something we cannot stand behind. Our guide to pet-friendly beaches is considerably shorter than most because we removed every location we could not verify. Our position on dog-walking temperature charts is that we will not publish one, because the honest answer is conditional and a chart implies it is not.
